Interfacing MRI with Fundamental Studies of Fluid Dynamics

Overview

The "Interfacing MRI with Fundamental Studies of Fluid Dynamics" workshop will be held on the ground floor of the Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) in Superconductivity at the Cavendish Laboratories, Cambridge from 11th to 12th Spetember 2007.

The workshop will cover a range of topics in fluid dynamics and their existing / potential interface with magnetic resonance techniques.

The workshop is organised by Dr Mick Mantle, Dr Andy Sederman, Dr Mike Johns and Prof. Lynn Gladden of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Cambridge.

Location and Directions

The IRC is part of the Cavendish Laboratories located just off Madingley Road. If you have any problems, please call Dr Mick Mantle on 01223 766325 (office) or 07764 943027 (mobile).

For travel by car:
From M11 (South), take exit 13 and turn right at the traffic lights (signposted Cambridge) onto Madingley Road. After approximately 0.7 miles, turn right off Madingley Road into JJ Thomson Avenue. Then take the next available left signposted "Microsoft and/or Roger Needham Building" and follow the purple arrows on the map below to the car park. Walk on the road back towards the Centre for Advanced Photonics and Electronics (building #3 on the map below; it has a fountain outside); just before the road bends to the right, turn left. Follow the path round a sharp left bend. The
IRC in Superconductivity is then on your left just before the sharp right bend.

From M11 (North), There is no exit 13 from the M11 when coming from the north so you will need to proceed past exit 13 and take exit 12. Get back on the M11 (signposted The North and Huntingdon), then proceed as above.

For travel by foot:
If you intend to walk from Arundel House to the workshop venue (this should take 20-25 minutes max), once you have got onto Madingley Road, take a left into Clerk Maxwell Road and walk down the road until you see an entrance on the right. Proceed through this entrance and head towards the Centre for Advanced Photonics and Electronics (building #3 on the map below; it has a fountain outside); just before the road bends to the right, turn left. Follow the path round a sharp left bend. The
IRC in Superconductivity is then on your left just before the sharp right bend.

For travel by train:
There is a direct service from Stansted Airport to Cambridge. The trains leave at 25 minutes past the hour from Stansted and arrive in Cambridge approximately 30 minutes later. Once in Cambridge, please take a taxi (ask for a receipt) from the rank outside the rail station and ask to be dropped off at either at the Arundel House (if you have lots of time), or half way down Clerk Maxwell Road and then follow the directions above.

If you flying into Heathrow or Gatwick you need to make your way from these airports to London Kings Cross Rail Station and then take the Cambridge Cruiser (15 minutes past and 15 minutes too the hour) to Cambridge and follow the instructions above.
